Lucy Hale to Star in Antarctic Horror Film ‘White Mars’ with a ‘The Thing’-Inspired Twist
Lucy Hale, known for her roles in Fantasy Island and Truth or Dare, is set to dive deeper into the horror genre with White Mars, an upcoming sci-fi horror film announced by Deadline.
The movie is set at the isolated Aquila Research Facility in Antarctica, where Hale will portray Sammie, a microbiologist who must fight to save her fellow crew members from a malevolent entity determined to wipe them all out. As the situation spirals into a terrifying battle for survival, Sammieâs resourcefulness and resilience will be put to the ultimate test.
Directed by Martin Owen (Above The Below), White Mars will be filmed entirely in a virtual production environment, with shooting scheduled to begin later this month. The screenplay was written by Matt Mitchell, Vicki Sargent, and Roo Berry.
XYZ Films is co-financing the project alongside Singularity Entertainment and is handling worldwide sales at the American Film Market.
Hale expressed her excitement for the project in a statement, saying, âWhite Mars is an absolute psychological thrill ride, and Iâm so excited to film this at the CinecittĂ film stages in Rome. At the heart of this story is Sammie, a character I truly admire for her resilience and strength. I canât wait to collaborate with Martin Owen, our incredible cast, and the entire team to bring this story to life.â
