The cast of Sony’s ‘I Know What You Did Last Summer‘ sequel is expanding, with Deadline reporting that Billy Campbell (‘Mr. and Mrs. Smith’) has joined the lineup.

Freddie Prinze Jr. is set to reprise his role from the original films, and Jennifer Love Hewitt is in talks to return as well. Stay tuned for more casting updates as they become available.

The slasher franchise is set to hit theaters on July 18, 2025.

Madelyn Cline (‘Outer Banks’) will lead the cast of Sony’s reboot, alongside Sarah Pidgeon (‘Gotham’), Tyriq Withers (‘Atlanta’), and Jonah Hauer-King (‘The Little Mermaid’). Chase Sui Wonders has also been added to the cast.

Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (‘Do Revenge’) will direct this new installment, while Leah McKendrick (‘M.F.A.’) wrote the original draft of the screenplay. The latest version has been co-written by Robinson and Sam Lansky.

The original ‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’, directed by Jim Gillespie in 1997, was penned by Kevin Williamson (*Scream*) and is based on Lois Duncan’s novel. This film led to sequels in 1998 and 2006, with both Hewitt and Prinze Jr. returning for the first sequel.

Recently, the franchise attempted a revival with a short-lived television series on Amazon.
