“Squid Game” Season 2 Debuts December 2024; Final Season Set for 2025

Netflix has revealed that the eagerly awaited Season 2 of *Squid Game* will premiere on December 26, 2024. Additionally, the final season of the hit series is set to debut in 2025.

The upcoming season features a dynamic ensemble cast, including both rising stars and seasoned actors. Director Hwang Dong-hyuk, who won an Emmy for the first season, will return to direct, write, and produce the entire second season.

In the South Korean series, contestants in dire financial straits accept a mysterious invitation to participate in children’s games with a deadly twist. The prize is a staggering 45.6 billion won, but the stakes are life-threatening.

Season 2 picks up three years after Player 456’s victory in the first season. Gi-hun, still driven to uncover the masterminds behind the deadly game, uses his newfound wealth to fund his investigation. His search leads him to the man in the sharp suit who was seen playing ddakji in the subway. However, as Gi-hun delves deeper, he finds that ending the game may require him to re-enter it, facing even greater dangers than before.

Returning cast members include Lee Jung-jae, Lee Byung-hun, Wi Ha-jun, and Gong Yoo. New additions to the cast are Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Park Gyu-young, Lee Jin-uk, Park Sung-hoon, Yang Dong-geun, Kang Ae-sim, Lee David, Choi Seung-hyun, Roh Jae-won, Jo Yu-ri, and Won Ji-an, bringing a fresh array of characters to the series.
