AMC Greenlights Third Anne Rice Adaptation, “The Talamasca,” for Series
AMC continues to strike gold with the Anne Rice Immortal Universe, building on the success of “Interview with the Vampire” and “Mayfair Witches.” The latest addition to the lineup, “Anne Rice’s The Talamasca,” has just been greenlit for series production, marking another milestone for the network.
According to Variety, the series delves into the clandestine world of the Talamasca, a covert society tasked with monitoring and managing supernatural entities such as witches, vampires, and werewolves.
Scheduled for a 2025 premiere on AMC, “The Talamasca” promises to captivate audiences with its blend of mystery and intrigue.
Leading the charge as showrunners and executive producers are John Lee Hancock, known for “The Blind Side,” and Mark Lafferty, acclaimed for his work on “Halt and Catch Fire.” Hancock will also helm the directorial duties.
Dan McDermott, president of entertainment for AMC, expresses excitement for the project, stating, “This is a story we’ve been developing and wanting to tell from the earliest moments of this franchise, focused on a fascinating and compelling secret society that has already appeared in both of our existing Anne Rice series.”
Reflecting on the genesis of the series, Hancock shares, “This all started for me with a call from Mark Johnson, who asked if I’d ever heard of the Talamasca… I was intrigued by the idea of an organization that, to me, had more than a passing resemblance to the CIA or MI6, which are necessary but not always necessarily transparent.”
As the journey unfolds, AMC’s commitment to expanding the Anne Rice universe remains unwavering. With “Interview with the Vampire” currently in its second season and the second season of “Mayfair Witches” on the horizon, viewers can anticipate a wealth of supernatural storytelling to come.
