Remember “The Breed”? The 2006 killer dog film directed by Nicholas Mastandrea and produced by the late Wes Craven? Well, it seems it’s about to get a makeover nearly 20 years later!

According to Variety, Grace Caroline Currey, known for her role in “Fall,” is set to headline the upcoming remake of “The Breed.” The film will be helmed by filmmaking duo Sean and Bryan Furst.

Described as “an unconventional reimagining of the Wes Craven cult classic,” the original movie, despite its ties to Craven, hasn’t quite achieved cult status and has largely faded from memory since its release.

In this new iteration produced by Curmudgeon Films, Currey’s character, Violet, is portrayed as a rebel icon on a mission to rescue abandoned dogs on a remote island, only to find herself in a heart-pounding fight for survival.

The 2006 original boasted a cast of familiar faces, including Michelle Rodriguez, Taryn Manning, and Oliver Hudson. If you’re curious, you can check out the trailer for the original film below.
