Real-life serial killer John Wayne Gacy has been the focus of various horror films throughout the years, portrayed by Brian Dennehy in “To Catch a Killer” (1992), Mark Holton in “Gacy” (2003), and William Forsythe in “Dear Mr. Gacy” (2010). Notably bizarre entries include “Dahmer vs. Gacy” (2010) and “8213: Gacy House” (2010), the latter being a found footage horror movie.
The latest addition to this chilling cinematic exploration is the upcoming indie horror film titled “Gacy: Serial Killer Next Door,” set to be released by Quiver Distribution later this month. The official trailer for the movie has been unveiled this week.
Directed by Michael Feifer, the horror film revolves around a teenager whose life in a quiet suburb takes a dark turn when John Wayne Gacy, the infamous serial killer, becomes his neighbor. The teenager’s curiosity sparks the unraveling of dark secrets, leading to a frightening journey from innocence to a harrowing confrontation with evil.
“Gacy: Serial Killer Next Door” is scheduled to be available On Demand and Digital starting January 30, 2024. The cast includes Ryker Baloun, Shelby Janes, Mason McNulty, Ashley Ray Keefe, and John Omohundro.
John Wayne Gacy, known for his ‘Pogo the Clown’ alter ego, instilled fear of clowns in America long before Stephen King introduced Pennywise. Gacy claimed 33 lives before his arrest in 1978. Sentenced to death on March 13, 1980, he was executed by lethal injection at Stateville Correctional Center on May 10, 1994.
For those interested in delving deeper into Gacy’s horrific crimes, Netflix’s docu-series “Conversations with a Killer: The John Wayne Gacy Tapes” provides an in-depth exploration, debuting in April 2022.
