Adam Sandler teams up with a spider alien, voiced by Paul Dano, in Netflix’s upcoming original science fiction drama, “Spaceman,” directed by Johan Renck of “Chernobyl” fame.

Scheduled to premiere in select theaters on February 23 before landing on Netflix on March 1, the film explores a unique storyline. In “Spaceman,” astronaut Jakub (played by Adam Sandler) embarks on a solitary research mission to the edge of the solar system. However, he discovers that the marriage he left behind might not be waiting for him upon his return to Earth.

Desperate to mend his relationship with his wife, Lenka (Carey Mulligan), Jakub encounters a mysterious creature named Hanuš (voiced by Paul Dano) hiding in the depths of his ship. Together, Jakub and Hanuš work to unravel the complexities of what went wrong before it’s too late.

Director Johan Renck expressed his desire to showcase a different side of Adam Sandler in this performance, emphasizing Sandler’s intelligence and depth beyond his comedic persona. The film also features a stellar cast, including Kunal Nayyar, Lena Olin, and Isabella Rossellini.

“Spaceman” is an adaptation of Jaroslav Kalfař’s novel “Spaceman of Bohemia.” Kalfař, the author, shared his excitement about the film, expressing how the adaptation delighted him, especially for those who appreciate the unconventional and artistic aspects of storytelling.

As the release date approaches, fans of unique and intriguing narratives can anticipate a captivating blend of science fiction and drama in “Spaceman.” Watch out for this space exploration adventure that promises to deliver a different facet of Adam Sandler’s acting prowess.
