The recently unveiled project, previously known as the “Untitled Monster Thriller” from the collaboration between Radio Silence (known for V/H/S, Southbound, Scream, and Scream VI) and Universal, has now been officially named “Abigail.” The film, directed by Radio Silence, is set to hit theaters on April 19, and its official tagline is “Children can be such monsters.”

The just-released trailer for Abigail provides a thrilling glimpse into the film, offering a bloody and captivating experience. The plot, reminiscent of the intensity seen in Don’t Breathe, introduces a group of criminals attempting to kidnap what appears to be an innocent young girl. However, the twist unfolds as the girl is revealed to be a vampire, specifically a ballerina vampire.

The movie boasts a stellar cast, and Radio Silence appears to have executed the intriguing premise in a delightfully fun and gory manner. Drawing inspiration from their pre-Scream horror success, Ready or Not, Abigail promises to deliver a wickedly good time.

The storyline revolves around the kidnapping of a 12-year-old ballerina, the daughter of a powerful underworld figure. To collect a hefty $50 million ransom, the criminals must keep a watchful eye on the girl overnight. Set in an isolated mansion, the captors soon realize that they are not dealing with an ordinary little girl, and as the night progresses, their numbers dwindle, trapping them inside with the supernatural threat.

From the acclaimed directing team of Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, who brought us the terrifying modern horror hits Ready or Not, 2022’s Scream, and last year’s Scream VI, Abigail presents a bold and blood-thirsty reimagining of the vampire genre. The screenplay, penned by Stephen Shields (The Hole in the Ground, Zombie Bashers) and Guy Busick (Scream franchise, Ready or Not), promises a fresh take on the vampire narrative.

The impressive cast includes Melissa Barrera (Scream franchise, In the Heights), Dan Stevens (Gaslit, Legion), Kathryn Newton (Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Freaky), William Catlett (Black Lightning, True Story), Kevin Durand (Resident Evil: Retribution, X-Men Origins: Wolverine), and Angus Cloud (Euphoria, North Hollywood) as the kidnappers. Alisha Weir (Roald Dahl’s Matilda the Musical, Darklands) takes on the role of Abigail.
