John Waters Returns to “Chucky” Franchise as Creator of Good Guy Dolls
EW has dropped another bombshell for “Chucky” fans eagerly awaiting Season 3: Part 2, slated for release next year. The news? Legendary filmmaker John Waters, known for cult classics like “Serial Mom” and “Pink Flamingos,” is making a comeback in the franchise.
In this latest installment, Waters will take on the role of Wendell Wilkins, the enigmatic mastermind behind the creation of the Good Guy dolls. Expect twists and turns as he becomes entangled in Chucky’s murderous schemes. Waters previously graced the franchise as tabloid photographer Pete Peters in 2004’s “Seed of Chucky,” meeting a rather acidic end.
This return of Waters marks another brilliant move by Mancini, the mastermind behind “Chucky,” who continually brings back familiar faces in thrilling ways.
The recent conclusion of Season 3: Part 1 left viewers hanging on an electrifying Halloween note, with an intense cliffhanger. But fear not, Season 3: Part 2 is primed to hit screens in 2024, as teased in a brand-new preview that promises a blood-soaked spectacle.
Chucky’s quest for dominance now finds him entrenched within the walls of the White House, aligned with America’s First Family. How did he secure this position? What are his nefarious intentions? And how will Jake, Devon, and Lexy navigate the challenges of relationships and maturity while trying to confront Chucky within the most heavily guarded building on Earth?
The stellar cast returns, featuring the talents of Brad Dourif, Jennifer Tilly, Devon Sawa, Lara Jean Chorostecki, Zackary Arthur, Björgvin Arnarson, and Alyvia Alyn Lind.
Unlike previous seasons, new episodes of “Chucky” will stream the day after release on Peacock, a boon for those opting for streaming services.
The series is produced by UCP and helmed by executive producers Don Mancini, Nick Antosca, Alex Hedlund, David Kirschner, and Jeff Renfroe, promising to continue the legacy of thrilling horror and suspense.
