‘Remake of ‘Speak No Evil’ by Universal and Blumhouse Receives an “R” Rating for “Intense Violence” and “Sexual Content”‘
Blumhouse and Universal are set to bring the bone-chilling Danish horror hit, ‘Speak No Evil,’ to the American audience with an upcoming remake. The film has received its official MPA rating this week.
The ‘Speak No Evil’ remake has been stamped with an “R” rating for “Strong violence, language, some sexual content, and brief drug use.”
While the trailer for the remake is yet to drop, you can catch a glimpse of the original movie’s trailer below.
Under the direction of James Watkins (‘The Woman in Black,’ ‘Eden Lake’), the Blumhouse and Universal collaboration features Mackenzie Davis (‘Terminator: Dark Fate,’ ‘Happiest Season’) and James McAvoy (‘Split,’ ‘Glass’) in starring roles, alongside Scoot McNairy (‘Argo’).
Set for a theatrical release by Universal on August 9, 2024, the remake draws inspiration from the 2022 Danish original. The plot revolves around a Danish family visiting acquaintances from their holiday, where a supposedly serene weekend gradually spirals into discomfort and unnerving situations that challenge their politeness.
Watkins takes on both directorial duties and scriptwriting for the ‘Speak No Evil’ remake.
Jason Blum will produce the film for Blumhouse, joined by Paul Ritchie, Christian Tafdrup, Jacob Jarek, and Bea Sequeira as Executive Producers.
