Official ‘Companion’ Trailer Unveils the Sci-Fi Plot of Thatcher’s New Horror Film
Zack Snyder’s upcoming sci-fi film, “Rebel Moon,” is set to premiere exclusively on Netflix on December 22, marking the first installment in a sweeping saga spanning at least two features.
The official trailer for “Rebel Moon” promises an “epic sci-fi fantasy” experience, delivering on the filmmaker’s vision. Originally conceived as a Star Wars pitch, the influence of this iconic franchise is palpable throughout the trailer, earning the film the moniker of “Zack Snyder’s Star Wars.”
From the visionary behind “300,” “Man of Steel,” and “Army of the Dead,” Zack Snyder brings forth “Rebel Moon,” a decades-in-the-making science-fantasy spectacle.
Set on the outskirts of a galaxy, a tranquil colony faces a menacing threat from the forces of a tyrannical ruling power. Kora (Sofia Boutella), a mysterious resident among the villagers, emerges as their last hope for survival. Entrusted with the mission of assembling a formidable group of fighters to defy the odds against the Mother World, Kora unites a diverse band of warriors – outsiders, insurgents, peasants, and war orphans from different worlds, bound by a shared quest for redemption and revenge.
Against the backdrop of an entire Realm casting its shadow on an improbable moon, a battle for the destiny of a galaxy unfolds, birthing a new legion of heroes.
An ensemble cast featuring Ed Skrein, Charlie Hunnam, Djimon Hounsou, Doona Bae, Ray Fisher, Stuart Martin, Jena Malone, Staz Nair, E. Duffy, Charlotte Maggi, Sky Yang, and Michiel Huisman, Cary Elwes, Corey Stoll, and Alfonso Herrera promises a riveting cinematic experience.
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Zack Snyder shared his inspiration, saying, “This is me growing up as an Akira Kurosawa fan, a Star Wars fan. It’s my love of sci-fi and a giant adventure. My hope is that this also becomes a massive IP and a universe that can be built out.”
Snyder, not only directing but also co-writing the screenplay with Shay Hatten and Kurt Johnstad, brings his distinctive vision to life in “Rebel Moon.”
