Well Go USA Entertainment is gearing up for a holiday season with a twist, as the Christmas horror movie “A Creature Was Stirring” is set to hit the screens. Today, we’re excited to bring you the trailer.
The film stars Chrissy Metz from “This Is Us” and Scout Taylor-Compton, known for her role in “Halloween.” You can catch “A Creature Was Stirring” in theaters starting on December 8, and it’ll be available on VOD outlets from December 12.
“A Creature Was Stirring” has earned an “R” rating, and the reasons are quite clear: it features violence, bloody images, drug content, strong language, and some sexual references.
The trailer offers a glimpse of the film’s distinctive approach, with vibrant Christmas lighting and a dose of practical creature feature mayhem—a combination that has a special place in the hearts of Christmas horror enthusiasts.
The story of “A Creature Was Stirring” revolves around Faith, a fiercely overprotective mother and professional nurse, portrayed by Chrissy Metz. She keeps her teenage daughter, played by Annalise Basso, securely locked in her room, subjecting her to constant methadone injections. This treatment is the only means to maintain a delicate balance and keep a mysterious and terrifying affliction at bay.
However, when a pair of strangers, Scout Taylor-Compton and Connor Paolo, seek shelter from a Christmas blizzard and break into their home, they quickly discover that the relationship between mother and daughter is filled with dysfunction and blurred lines of reality. As events unfold, they unearth a dreadful secret—the presence of a malevolent houseguest who has no intention of remaining hidden in the shadows.
The film is helmed by Damien LeVeck, the director of “The Cleansing Hour,” with a script penned by Shannon Wells.
Damien LeVeck expressed, “For genre fans, this film has it all: a spectacular practical monster, unexpected twists and turns, and the phenomenal talent of Chrissy Metz in a kind of performance no one has ever seen from her before. All of these elements are further amplified by the incredible abilities of Annalise, Scout, and Connor, who are already much beloved mainstays of the horror community. Fans will relish each actor’s dark transformation for this twisted tale, which—paired with Tate Steinsiek’s unparalleled ability to bring nightmares to life on-screen—elevates this film beyond even my wildest expectations.”
Well Go’s Pfardrescher added, “The story itself conjures up this disturbing portrayal of how guilt, dark secrets, personal vices, and mental illness can combine, fester, and eventually end up eating you alive—perhaps even literally. Horror fans, especially, will be thrilled by the homage paid to classic creature features, particularly in the use of only practical effects to bring this nightmarish vision to life onscreen.” Horror aficionados can look forward to a thrilling and visually stunning experience when “A Creature Was Stirring” arrives this holiday season.
