Upcoming Stone Age horror film ‘Out of Darkness,’ previously known as ‘The Origin,’ is set to unleash prehistoric terrors in theaters on February 9, 2024. The film has recently been acquired by Bleecker Street for North American distribution. ‘Out of Darkness’ takes place during the Paleolithic period, 45,000 years in the past, and is hailed for its tension, emotion, and meticulous world-building. The film features a unique language, specially created by a linguist and an archaeologist for authenticity.
In ‘Out of Darkness,’ a small group of desperate individuals arrives on the shores of a stark and unforgiving landscape, 45,000 years in the past, after crossing a treacherous sea. Starving and in search of a new home, they embark on a journey to find shelter and resources. However, as night falls, their excitement turns to fear and doubt as they realize they are not alone in this harsh and primitive world.
The film features a talented ensemble cast, including Safia Oakley-Green, Chuku Modu, Kit Young, Iola Evans, Luna Mwezi, Arno Luening, Rosebud Melarkey, and Tyrell Mhlanga. ‘Out of Darkness’ is directed by Andrew Cumming and produced by Oliver Kassman, with a script penned by Ruth Greenberg.
