Original Screen-Worn Freddy Glove from ‘A Nightmare on Elm Street’ Available at Auction!
Propstore Unveils Original Freddy Krueger Glove from ‘A Nightmare on Elm Street’ Up for Auction.
In a thrilling development for horror enthusiasts, the original Freddy Krueger glove armor, famously featured in Wes Craven’s horror masterpiece, “A Nightmare on Elm Street,” has resurfaced and is currently available for auction through Propstore.
This extraordinary prop has been meticulously screen-matched, confirming its authenticity as the very same metal glove armor and razor blade fingers worn by Robert Englund in the original “Nightmare on Elm Street.” To clarify the term “glove armor,” replica rings have been thoughtfully attached to the finger interiors, enabling the metalwork to be displayed on a replica leather work glove since the original leather glove has since been lost.
Propstore provides a detailed description of this unique and iconic prop, stating, “Freddy Krueger’s (Robert Englund) screen-matched hero metal glove armor and razor blade fingers, with an original hand-drawn design schematic, from Wes Craven’s original ‘A Nightmare on Elm Street’ and Jack Sholder’s sequel, ‘A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy’s Revenge.'”
They further explain, “The glove armor and razor blade fingers screen-match to multiple shots in the seminal, genre-defining ‘A Nightmare on Elm Street’ film, as well as multiple shots and publicity photos from the sequel. The original designer Jim Doyle and fabricator Lou Carlucci of this unforgettable piece have confirmed that this was the sole hero glove with metal blades fabricated for the original film and re-used in the sequel; two stunt gloves with plastic blades were also created.”
Moreover, “This piece was also utilized as a reference to production on the third Nightmare film, but the original leather glove element of the piece was lost to time, and additional paintwork (since removed) was applied. The original metalwork is currently presented on a replica leather glove.”
The winning bidder will also receive an exclusive addition – “Mechanical Special Effects Coordinator Jim Doyle’s original hand-drawn schematic for the iconic glove, rendered in pencil and ink on graph paper with a Doyle Enterprises stamp,” along with two Letters of Authenticity to confirm the prop’s legitimacy.
As of now, the absentee bid for this remarkable piece of horror history has already exceeded $100,000, with bidding set to conclude on Thursday, November 9.
