Prepare for an uproarious blend of horror and comedy this Halloween season as “Totally Killer” makes its way to audiences, courtesy of Blumhouse and Amazon Studios. The newly released trailer promises a wickedly entertaining experience.
“Totally Killer” is set to premiere on Prime Video on October 6, 2023, and has been rated “R” for its intense depiction of bloody violence, strong language, sexual content, and the portrayal of teen drug and alcohol use.
The film’s brand-new trailer leans into a concept reminiscent of “Back to the Future” meets “The Final Girls,” fully embracing its comedic elements.
The story unfolds 35 years after the shocking murders of three teenagers, attributed to the infamous ‘Sweet Sixteen Killer.’ On Halloween night, the menacing murderer reemerges, targeting a fourth victim. Seventeen-year-old Jamie, played by Kiernan Shipka, defies her overprotective mother’s warnings (portrayed by Julie Bowen) and finds herself face-to-face with the masked maniac. In a desperate bid to escape, Jamie inadvertently stumbles into a time-traveling experience, landing in the year 1987, coinciding with the original killings. Forced to navigate the unfamiliar and outrageous culture of the 1980s, Jamie teams up with her teenage mother, portrayed by Olivia Holt, to confront the killer once and for all, before she becomes permanently trapped in the past.
The film is helmed by Nahnatchka Khan (known for projects like “Always Be My Maybe,” “Young Rock,” and “Don Wong”) as the director, with the screenplay penned by Jen D’Angelo, based on an original script by David Matalon and Sasha Perl-Raver.
The cast features a mix of newcomers and established actors, including Lochlyn Munro as “Adult Blake,” Charlie Gillespie as “Teen Blake,” Stephi Chin-Salvo as “Marisa Song,” Anna Diaz as “Heather Hernandez,” Jeremy Monn-Djasgnar as “Teen Randy Finkle,” Troy Leigh-Anne Johnson as “Teen Lauren,” Ella Choi as “Teen Kara Molnar,” Kelcey Mawema as “Amelia,” Liana Liberato as “Tiffany Clark,” Nathaniel Appiah as “Teen Doug Summers,” and Jonathan Potts as “Adult Chris Dubusage.”
Producing “Totally Killer” are Jason Blum for Blumhouse, along with Adam Hendricks and Greg Gilreath for Divide/Conquer. The executive producers include Nahnatchka Khan and Chloe Yellin for Fierce Baby Productions, Chris McCumber and Jeremy Gold for Blumhouse Television, and Brian Parker.
Mark your calendars for October 6, 2023, and get ready for a wildly entertaining and spine-tingling adventure when “Totally Killer” arrives, promising an outrageously killer time this spooky season.
