The Hollywood Reporter has unveiled that Sophie Skelton from Outlander is set to lead the ensemble cast of the upcoming UK murder mystery thriller titled “Row.” The film is currently in pre-production and is scheduled to commence filming in Scotland next month. Skelton will be joined by Bella Dayne (known for Troy: Fall of a City), Akshay Khanna (from Red, White & Royal Blue), and Mark Strepan (featured in Before We Die).

“Row” will serve as the directorial debut for Matthew Losasso, with Nick Skaugen taking on the role of the writer. Interestingly, Skaugen will also have an acting role in the film. The plot revolves around a woman who washes ashore on a blood-soaked rowing boat. With her entire crew missing and presumed dead, she must reconstruct fragmented memories of the ordeal to prove her innocence.

Skaugen is working alongside Matt Schichter as the film’s producer. Losasso shared his thoughts, saying, “An immense ocean appears to stretch infinitely in all directions, and yet on board the Valiant, the lack of space fuels paranoia and intense drama. It’s a compelling and fabulously ambitious script. If filming on the water wasn’t enough of a challenge, throw in a twisty dark plot, complicated techniques to avoid green screen backdrops, a commitment to capturing the rugged beauty of ocean landscapes, and the constraints of independent filmmaking.”

The Hollywood Reporter also mentioned that production designer Alex Jones Nash has supervised the creation of a water tank located at the ocean’s edge, allowing “Row” to be filmed in the tank while giving the appearance of being shot on the open sea.

Sophie Skelton is widely recognized for her portrayal of Brianna in 48 episodes of Outlander. While I haven’t had the chance to watch the show, I do remember her from Day of the Dead: Bloodline, although I hope “Row” will prove to be a more successful venture.
