Shudder, Studio71, Cinepocalypse, and Bloody Disgusting are teaming up to take viewers on a nostalgic journey back to the 1980s with “V/H/S/85.” The film will make its World Premiere at Fantastic Fest in Austin, Texas (September 21 – 28) and will exclusively stream on Shudder starting October 6, 2023.
In the teaser trailer for “V/H/S/85,” we get a sneak peek at the terrifying tales presented through a made-for-TV documentary. Five chilling stories from the grim underbelly of the ’80s emerge, including a boy’s eerie fixation on his TV, a lake skiing adventure gone awry, a TV crew’s fight for survival during a natural disaster, the awakening of something terrifying in the early days of VR, and a deadly dream captured on tape. Secrets of the sinister 1980s come to life in a unique way.
David Bruckner, known for his work on the first “V/H/S” and “The Ritual,” leads the film, joined by talented directors Scott Derrickson (“Sinister,” “Doctor Strange”), Gigi Saul Guerrero (“Bingo Hell,” “Culture Shock”), Natasha Kermani (“Imitation Girl,” “Lucky”), and Mike P. Nelson (“The Domestics,” “Wrong Turn”).
The cast includes Freddy Rodriguez (“Planet Terror”), Jordan Belfi, James Ransone, Dani Deetté, and many more. The film is produced by Josh Goldbloom, Brad Miska, David Bruckner, Radio Silence, and James Harris, with executive producers Michael Schreiber and Adam Boorstin. “V/H/S/85” adds to the growing “V/H/S” franchise, which includes films like “V/H/S,” “V/H/S/2,” “V/H/S: Viral,” “V/H/S/94,” “V/H/S/99,” and the spinoff feature “SiREN.”
